Maggie Kang, director of the Netflix animated film 'K-POP DEMON HUNTERS' (hereinafter referred to as 'KDH'), will visit Korea next month.
According to the film industry on the 12th, Director Maggie Kang will attend the 'Global Media Conference' as a speaker on October 18th at the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul. This will be her first visit to Korea since the release of 'KDH'.
At the event, Director Maggie Kang is expected to share the secrets to 'KDH's' success and present strategies for content innovation and growth.
Director Maggie Kang, a Korean-Canadian, was born in Seoul and moved to Toronto, Canada with her family at a young age. After majoring in animation at Sheridan College in Canada, she worked as a story artist at DreamWorks, Blue Sky Studios, Warner Bros., and Illumination.
'KDH', which depicts the adventures of K-pop girl group HuntricX as they operate as the demon-hunting organization Demon Hunters, is her directorial debut feature film.
The film is characterized by its world-building that combines Korean shamanism with K-pop culture, and was co-directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, who is from the United States.
'KDH' was released as a Netflix original in June and became the highest-grossing animated film in Netflix history. Its original soundtrack (OST) 'Golden' achieved the remarkable feat of topping both the UK Official Singles Chart and the Billboard Main Singles Chart.
The 'Global Media Conference', organized by JoongAng Ilbo to commemorate its 60th anniversary, will be held from September 17th to 18th.
