The Seoul Design Foundation announced on the 12th that a total of 510,000 people visited 'Seoul Light DDP 2025 Summer,' which was held from the 31st of last month to the 10th of this month around the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) and Dongdaemun History & Culture Park.

Seoul Light DDP is a festival that illuminates the exterior walls of the DDP and surrounding areas with large-scale media art. This summer season marked the first time since the plaza's opening that the event focused primarily on the park area.

Centered on the theme 'TIMESCAPE: Texture of Light,' the event received an enthusiastic response by allowing visitors to stroll through the park and experience seven immersive artworks.

The foundation will continue the festival with 'Seoul Light DDP 2025 Autumn,' starting on the 28th of this month.

The event will run for a total of 11 days until September 7th.

The theme for the autumn event has been set as 'EVERFLOW: Moving Field.'

French conceptual artist Laurent Grasso will present a massive media facade combining space data with historical imagery, while d'strict, a leader in digital design, will showcase an immersive series.

Laser art by Taiwanese media artist Akia Chang will also be unveiled under the DDP Future-ro.

Additionally, the foundation has signed an MOU with OpenAI to discover and support next-generation media artists and to present new artistic experiences in media art through AI. These works are scheduled to be unveiled during the Seoul Light DDP Autumn event.

On September 2nd, a forum will be held to provide behind-the-scenes stories from the participating artists. Further details on how to participate will be announced on the DDP website (www.ddp.or.kr) in the future.

Cha Kang-hee, CEO of the Seoul Design Foundation, stated, "We will share a space of sensory experience where light, art, and the city converge with our citizens." Yonhap News
