Korea winning the World Cup would be a miracle… a tie in votes, it’s like that kind of miracle happening all at once.
People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok holds a press conference at the National Assembly on the 9th regarding the shortage of ballot papers and vote count controversies. [Yonhap News]
Jang Dong-hyeok, leader of the People Power Party, urged Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum and Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung on the 13th to "meet today to discuss a re-election and a special prosecutor" concerning the shortage of ballot papers in the June 3rd local elections.
In a Facebook post on the same day, Jang stated, "I don't care about the format. A tripartite meeting is fine," and added this remark.
He emphasized, "A nationwide re-election must be held, and a special prosecutor must be launched immediately. Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum argued for the dissolution of the election commission. Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung agreed to the special prosecutor."
He also wrote, "There were as many as 869 cases of twin vote counts nationwide. Fifteen cases of triple vote counts were also found." He added, "However, the National Election Commission's fact-finding committee completely excluded them from the investigation. The election commission only repeats that it is 'probabilistically possible.'"
He continued, "The 'probability' of the South Korean national team winning the World Cup is about 0.35%. The phrase 'probabilistically possible' is used in such situations. If they actually win, we call it a 'miracle.' Such 'miraculous' events happened all at once. Instead of claiming 'probabilistic possibility,' verifying the facts is common sense."
He then criticized, "(The election commission) claimed all ballot paper boxes were discarded, but a YouTuber brought one out. The judgment of 'evidentiary value' is made by the court, not the election commission." He added, "Following Jeonbuk, over 1,700 votes were omitted in the Gyeonggi Superintendent of Education election. It was also found that candidates' vote counts were entered in reverse."
Jang stated, "There are already 35 election appeals filed. It is difficult to predict how many more will be added." He concluded, "There is only one price for ignoring the citizens' anger: the downfall of the regime."
In an additional Facebook post on the same day, he wrote, "The only answer for the election commission is dissolution. It is incompetence, irresponsibility, insensitivity, and recklessness itself." He added, "Re-election, a special prosecutor, reform of the electoral system, and reform of the election commission are the answers. None can be omitted. There is no compromise."
Meanwhile, regarding the "Prosecution Human Rights Respect Future Committee" launched by the Ministry of Justice, Jang mentioned on Facebook the resumes of the chairman and members one by one, stating, "It is a bizarre organization, and the committee composition itself is a spectacle." He claimed, "It is a buildup for 'canceling Lee Jae-myung's trial.'"
He argued, "It is about respecting the human rights of Lee Jae-myung and ensuring the future of Lee Jae-myung. If you try to prevent one person, Lee Jae-myung, from going to prison, the day will soon come when you will go to prison hand in hand."
