Rep. Na Kyung-won of the People Power Party urged the travel ban and commencement of investigation on acting Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Wi Cheol-hwan, on the 14th, stating that he is the de facto power behind the election commission's failure to provide sufficient ballots for the June 3 local elections.

In a Facebook post on the same day, Rep. Na argued, "The person who should step down immediately and face a thorough investigation with a travel ban is not the non-standing Chairman Noh Tae-ak, but rather the standing member Wi Cheol-hwan, who is the actual person in power."

He pointed out, "Standing member Wi is a close acquaintance of President Lee Jae-myung, as they are from the same 18th graduating class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute and are known to be 'meal friends.' He is an openly biased individual who favors Lee, having even served as the disciplinary committee chairman for the Democratic Party when President Lee was its leader."

He further stated, "It is absurd for the Election Commission, led by Wi Cheol-hwan, President Lee's meal friend, to conduct a self-investigation into this matter. Instead of an investigation, they should confess and resign voluntarily."

He emphasized, "If President Lee allows the total illegality and dereliction of duty by the Election Commission, which is controlled by his associates, to be swept under the rug without proper resolution, it will be a clear ground for impeachment, as it constitutes a betrayal of his duty to uphold the constitution. A proper investigation and truth-finding are impossible without a special prosecutor led by the opposition party. A special prosecutor led by the opposition party must be initiated."

Rep. Na further elaborated on his remarks during a press conference at the National Assembly on the 12th, stating, "If I were (Oh Se-hoon), the elected mayor of Seoul, I would have immediately gone to the site at the Olympic Park in Jamsil and declared a by-election."

He retorted, "I do not even feel it is worth responding to the low-level attacks claiming I said this because I want to run. I am simply speaking about principles and common sense."

He added, "Conversely, if a fair and transparent election, free from any mismanagement or dishonesty, is held now when the public's attention is intensely focused, Mayor Oh could reaffirm his legitimacy through even greater support and an overwhelming victory than he has now."
