Shortly after announcing on Saturday the 13th that he had reached a deal with Iran, President Donald Trump drew attention by posting several photos on Truth Social without any explanation.
Among them, a photo of President Trump walking with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore particularly caught the eyes of the South Korean public. It sparked intense interest as to whether this was a hint that he would focus on the Korean Peninsula issue immediately after concluding matters with Iran.
In context, prior to posting the photos, President Trump had uploaded a post to Truth Social criticizing the Obama administration for its past nuclear negotiations with Iran. The post stated, "Barack Hussein Obama’s Iran Nuclear Deal (JCPOA) was an easy, beautiful, smooth path for Iran to have Nuclear Weapons," and argued, "Under that deal, Iran would have already had nuclear weapons six years ago and would have used them long before that. The deal I reached with Iran is the complete opposite."
Furthermore, President Trump stated in the same post, "Unlike the Obama administration, which paid hundreds of billions of dollars to Iran—$1.7 billion of which was paid in cash—there will be no financial transaction this time." He added, "When the time is right and everything is calm, thanks to our magnificent B-2 bombers and our exceptional pilots, we will extract the nuclear dust buried deep within the granite mountains, where we are strongly dug in, and crush and destroy it, regardless of whether it is Iran or the United States."
He then added, "We look forward to working with Iran and the entire Middle East for a long time. We hope this process moves quickly, easily, and smoothly. If not, we will use the ultimate resort that we hope will never be used again!"
Following this, four consecutive photos were posted. The first photo depicted a landscape filled with homeless people, accompanied by the caption, "Ten years from now, the Obama Library will be a 'shrine' for those who hate America."
The second photo featured a stern-looking image of Trump himself appearing in court for his trial, with the phrase "Only Trump" written on it.
The third photo, which featured him walking with Chairman Kim Jong Un in the garden of the Capella Hotel on Sentosa Island, Singapore, on June 12, 2018, was posted without any description.
The fourth photo appears to be from a presidential campaign rally held at Minden-Tahoe Airport in Nevada on September 12, 2020. At that time, President Trump strongly criticized Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, reportedly claiming that he was not mentally fit. During the rally, Trump also claimed that they were "trying to rig the election" through mail-in ballots.
This series of photos is understood to indicate what President Trump's top national priorities will be moving forward.
In other words, it is interpreted as reflecting his criticism of Obama's flawed immigration policies, a desire for vengeance against the political attacks directed at him, lingering regret over the still-unresolved—and in some ways, unique—North Korean nuclear issue, and his determination regarding the "SAVE America Act" to eliminate mail-in voting.
