U.S. President Donald Trump warned on the 26th (local time) that he would impose a 100% tariff if European nations proceed with the implementation of a digital services tax (DST).

On the social media platform Truth Social that day, President Trump stated, "Numerous European nations have been discussing the implementation of a digital services tax targeting U.S. companies. Some of these countries have already begun the process of putting it into effect," and issued the warning accordingly.

He continued, "For every country that imposes such a tax, a 100% tariff will be immediately applied to all of their goods exported to the United States."

President Trump explained that this tariff would take precedence and be applied regardless of any existing trade agreements with those nations.

President Trump has consistently argued that Europe's digital services tax is aimed at U.S. tech companies and has vowed to impose massive tariffs if such taxes are not abolished or halted.
