U.S. President Donald Trump warned American voters on the 26th (local time) that "communism" is on the rise following a series of victories by progressive candidates in New York this week.
Zohran Mamdani, the Mayor of New York City who identifies as a democratic socialist, saw all the candidates he endorsed win in various legislative primary elections on Tuesday night, with some even defeating incumbent lawmakers.
Speaking at the Faith & Freedom Coalition policy conference in Washington, D.C., President Trump harshly criticized the recent New York elections, stating that "communist" candidates are "trying to completely destroy the traditional American way of life."
He remarked, "Communism is very easy to sell. It destroys everything, but it is very easy. Honestly, I think I could be the greatest communist in history," adding, "I would provide free rent... From now on, anyone who wants a house, don't worry, just pick the house you want. I'll provide free food for everyone; everything will be free. Everyone would vote for me."
President Trump continued, "The problem is that in two or three years, that country becomes a disaster zone. The country collapses. As it always does. It’s very easy at first. It’s very popular in the first year. That’s what’s happening in New York and California right now. But eventually, you end up living in misery. No food, no homes... and law and order will collapse."
He added, "This is what is happening right now. It is something that has been called by different names for thousands of years."
This warning follows the New York City Rent Guidelines Board's decision on Thursday (the 25th) to freeze rents for two years for tenants in approximately one million rent-stabilized apartments with one- or two-year leases, according to Just the News.
The NYC Rent Guidelines Board passed the two-year rent freeze regulation by a vote of 7 to 1. The regulation is expected to affect approximately one million rent-stabilized apartments under one- or two-year lease agreements.
Mayor Mamdani, who has pledged to introduce socialist policies to the city, such as price controls and the establishment of government-run grocery stores, has appointed 6 of the 9 board members since taking office.
Christina Smyth, a board member appointed by the previous mayor, resigned hours before the vote, accusing Mamdani of stacking the board with specific individuals. Smyth claimed the outcome had been predetermined by the mayor and criticized the board for failing to uphold the impartiality required by law.

Why aren't you taking action instead of just issuing warnings, so the Communist Party can be deterred? It is regrettable that the United States is not intervening in South Korea, where those Communist Parties are infiltrating and taking over organizations. South Korean residents in the US say they will only intervene if Koreans solve it themselves, but aren't there already widespread protests filled with the anger of young people happening in Seoul Olympic Park and across the country? Must it come to a violent anarchy situation like in Nepal? With all due respect, I suspect that perhaps South Korea is not being intervened with because it lacks oil like Venezuela or Iran. However, if the United States, which is defending the liberal democratic values on the front lines against the three axis of evil – China, North Korea, and Russia – were to consider intervention based on oil reserves (money), it would be utterly absurd.
