Aircraft that crashed while carrying skydivers [Captured from X (formerly Twitter)]On the 28th (local time), a private aircraft crashed near Nancy in northeastern France, killing all 11 people on board.
According to local authorities, the victims included the pilot, five skydiving instructors, and five participants, as reported by BFM TV.
Thierry Peche, head of the local private nurses' association, explained to the media, "The victims appear to be private nurses. It seems they had their first trial flight scheduled for today."
Yves Seguy, the prefect of Meurthe-et-Moselle, the department where Nancy is located, stated in an interview that the aircraft took off from an airfield on the outskirts of Nancy, "crashed almost vertically" due to a mechanical failure, and "showed no signs of attempting an emergency landing."
He added, "The aircraft crashed near a residential complex," noting that "had the crash site been just a few dozen meters closer, this accident could have resulted in secondary casualties."
A local resident, John Kuraku, reported witnessing the event, stating that while working in his garden, he heard what sounded like the plane's engine cutting out, followed immediately by a loud crash.
Investigative authorities have launched an inquiry into the specific circumstances of the accident.
Police have urged local residents to avoid the area and take detours to facilitate the cleanup of the crash site.
