The prosecution has launched a forced investigation following allegations that a former legislative aide to a National Assembly member accepted bribes from a medical device company.

According to legal sources on the 29th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's Anti-Corruption Investigation Department 1 (Chief Prosecutor Guk-won) conducted searches and seizures on the 17th at the residence of A, a former aide to a People Power Party lawmaker, and at a medical device company. It was determined that the warrant specified charges of bribery against A.

A is suspected of receiving tens of millions of won in bribes over a three-year period starting in 2021 in exchange for providing favors to the company.

The prosecution suspects that A may have received tens of millions of won in illicit payments under the names of relatives and others in exchange for providing favors, such as hosting policy debates at the lawmaker’s office to help the company's products be included in health insurance coverage.

The prosecution plans to summon A and other individuals involved in the case for questioning once the analysis of the seized materials is complete.
