U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his determination to persist with his policy through congressional legislation on the 30th (local time) after the Supreme Court blocked his push to restrict "birthright citizenship."

President Trump voiced his regret on the social media platform Truth Social, writing, "The Supreme Court has decided to maintain the birthright citizenship system, which is a great misfortune for our country."

On January 20 of last year, his first day in office for his second term, President Trump signed an executive order prohibiting the automatic granting of birthright citizenship to children born to foreign parents illegally or temporarily residing in the United States.

Following a lawsuit filed by the opposition Democratic Party, the Supreme Court ruled on this day that the President's executive order violates the 14th Amendment, which guarantees birthright citizenship.

President Trump added, "However, as revealed through this process, we can easily rectify this with the President's backing," and noted, "A long and cumbersome constitutional amendment is not necessary."

He further stated, "Congress must begin work today to end the costly and unfair birthright citizenship," adding, "They will have my full and complete support."

The congressional legislation requested by President Trump is intended to push for the passage of a bill that could effectively achieve the impact of a constitutional amendment without having to formally amend the 14th Amendment.

According to a report by the conservative online media outlet Just the News, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Representative Brian Babin (R-TX) have already introduced bills that would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to abolish or significantly restrict automatic citizenship by birth.
