The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport held three plenary sessions of the Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Committee in June and ultimately approved 548 victims of jeonse fraud.Of the victims determined this time, 505 were new applications, while the remaining 43 were included as relief recipients after their appeals against previous decisions were upheld. This brings the cumulative number of decisions made since the enactment of the 'Special Act on Jeonse Fraud Victims' to 39,669.

During the committee's deliberations, 458 applications were rejected for failing to meet the requirements. In addition, 207 cases were excluded from eligibility as the full deposit could be recovered through guarantee insurance or similar means, and 196 appeals were dismissed for failing to meet the necessary criteria.

To date, the cumulative support provided to jeonse fraud victims in areas such as housing, finance, and legal procedures has reached 68,415 cases. Tenants who were not recognized as victims can reapply for support if their circumstances change in the future.

As of June 30, the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) has purchased 9,707 damaged properties. The average monthly purchase volume this year is 784 units, and the organization is operating a fast-track process and purchase review meetings to accelerate the pace of acquisition.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will introduce a 'partial advance payment of auction profits' system in July to facilitate the rapid recovery of victims with joint collateral. Previously, profit calculation was only possible after the auctions for all associated properties were completed, but moving forward, advance payments will be made immediately upon the conclusion of the auction for an individual property.

This measure is part of the 'Support Plan for Jeonse Fraud Victims' announced in February. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stated that it is implementing this plan ahead of schedule to alleviate the difficulties faced by victims with joint collateral before the minimum guarantee system and the 'advance payment, post-settlement' scheme take effect in November.

Applications for victim recognition can be submitted to the local city or provincial government with jurisdiction over the residence, and recognized victims can receive detailed guidance on support measures through the Korea Housing & Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG) Jeonse Damage Support Center.
