A conservative Iranian media outlet has named U.S. President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, as targets for retaliation following the death of Iran’s former Supreme Leader.
According to AFP on the 12th (local time), the hardline Iranian daily Hamshahri published an infographic on the previous day listing 13 presumed targets, shortly after Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, issued a message vowing revenge for the victims of the current war.
In a written message following the funeral of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Ayatollah Mojtaba stated, "We vow revenge for the pure blood of you and all the martyrs sacrificed in these two wars," adding, "This retaliation is the demand of our people and must be carried out."
Hamshahri subsequently posted an infographic online to support this statement. While the specific names were not written out in text, the portraits of President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu were marked with targets.
The list also included European leaders, such as U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, President Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Since the outbreak of the war on February 28, Iran has accused European countries of being complicit in the attacks by failing to condemn the U.S.-Israeli aggression against its territory and by allowing U.S. military aircraft to pass through their airspace.
