On Tuesday, the 14th, President Donald Trump praised Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, speaking highly of his leadership at the Department of Justice, and urged Senate Republicans to confirm him as Attorney General swiftly. 

In a lengthy post on Truth Social, Trump recognized Blanche’s achievements, citing a sharp decline in violent crime. He highlighted the lowest murder rate since 1900, a record one-year decrease in reported homicides, an increase in arrests for violent crimes, and the seizure of over 500 million doses of illegal drugs.

Trump added, "Todd has fought devotedly for religious freedom, ended the weaponization of the justice system, protected free speech, pushed for the exclusion of males from women's sports, strengthened election integrity, and has done more than anyone in the history of the Department of Justice to root out widespread election fraud."

President Trump announced that he would deliver a televised address to the nation on Thursday, the 16th, and several media outlets, including Reuters, reported that the topic of the address would be the disclosure of evidence regarding foreign interference in the 2020 presidential election.

Trump also highlighted the role Blanche played as his personal defense attorney during the various criminal cases brought against him ahead of the 2024 presidential election, stating that Blanche "stood by my side and defeated 'lawfare'," and urged all Republican senators to vote to confirm him "as soon as possible."

A former federal prosecutor, Blanche defended Trump in several major criminal cases before joining the administration, and has sought to demonstrate stability and professionalism within the Justice Department while advancing Trump’s policy agenda.

Since taking office as Acting Attorney General, Blanche has emphasized restoring public trust in the Department of Justice, focusing on eradicating violent crime, immigration enforcement, and drug trafficking, while working to avoid the internal controversies and ethical issues that plagued the previous administration.
