Amidst a series of intense armed conflicts following the effective collapse of the previous Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the United States and Iran over tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, the Iranian Foreign Ministry has stated that it has no plans for negotiations with the U.S. at this time and will focus its full efforts on national defense.
On the 15th (local time), Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a statement, "The Iranian government has no plans for any negotiations (with the U.S.) at present, and our sole focus is on defending the nation."
Regarding the implementation of the previous MOU and diplomatic agreements, Baghaei emphasized, "Agreements are predicated on the mutual fulfillment of obligations," adding, "If the other side violates its commitments first, Iran will also cease fulfilling its own obligations."
He further added, "Reciprocity is an unwavering principle for Iran, and we will continue to firmly maintain this stance moving forward."
