An American brewery that sparked controversy for social media posts promising free beer to customers upon the death of Donald Trump has had its liquor license revoked by the state government.

On the 28th (local time), Fox News reported that Kirk Bangstad, a progressive activist and owner of the "Minocqua Brewing Co." in Wisconsin, received a notice from the state Department of Revenue revoking his brewery and liquor warehouse operating permits.

According to reports, the revocation was due to violations of statutory law rather than political speech. In June, Wisconsin authorities seized products from the brewery on allegations that it had illegally imported canned beer from Illinois without the required permits, thereby evading taxes.

A spokesperson for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue emphasized that the action was taken in accordance with legal procedures, stating, "We enforce laws and regulations fairly and consistently to ensure that all liquor permit holders comply."

The revocation is scheduled to take effect on August 4.

The brewery has faced ongoing criticism for its extreme political rhetoric. Last January, the brewery posted on Facebook, without explicitly naming Trump, that it would "provide free beer all day on the day he dies."
