Jang Dong-hyuk, Chung Jin-rye, Dismiss 'Martial Law Conspiracy' Question as "Distorted, Delusional Political Offensive"

Jang Dong-hyuk, the new leader of the People Power Party, dismissed Democratic Party leader Chung Jin-rye's question regarding the alleged 'martial law conspiracy' on the 28th, stating, "There is no need to respond to a political offensive filled with distortion and delusion."

At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Jang stated, "I burst out laughing when I saw the question," referring to Chung's SNS post from the previous day asking, "Are you arguing that the impeachment of Yoon Suk-yeol is wrong, that the Constitutional Court's dismissal is wrong, and that the emergency martial law conspiracy was right?"

He sarcastically added, "I am grateful that you have provided laughter and relieved my fatigue, which has accumulated through the party convention," and asserted, "We will bravely confront such incitement, distortion, and malicious framing, and inform the public of their injustice."

However, he mentioned, "I will faithfully answer meaningful questions that befit the dignity of the Democratic Party leader and are aimed at restoring politics."

Regarding the denial of the arrest warrant for former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo the previous night, Jang said, "It is an extremely natural decision, and I welcome the court's decision. I believe it speaks for itself how unreasonable and political the special prosecutor is."

He also stated, "The special prosecutor has announced its intention to re-request a search and seizure warrant for our party's membership roster. If the court issues the warrant again, I believe the court itself will be abandoning its role as the judiciary."

Meanwhile, Floor Leader Song Eon-seok strongly criticized the Democratic Party's rejection of the People Power Party's nominee for the National Human Rights Commission standing committee member at the plenary session the previous day, reiterating, "This is the atrocity of a dictatorial ruling party."

Song questioned, "They cited the reason for rejecting our party's human rights committee nominee as having been someone's lawyer. If that's the case, is former President Moon Jae-in, who defended the Pescamao sea murderer, also disqualified? And do you believe President Lee Jae-myung, who defended the nephew of the mother-daughter murderers, is qualified to be president?"

He also addressed National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik, stating, "You endorsed the ruling party's tyranny by expressing personal opinions on the plenary session floor. We declare that cooperation on major schedules for regular and extraordinary parliamentary sessions will be difficult without an apology and reflection from the Speaker and the ruling party's floor leadership."
