Yonsei University Professor Son In-hyuk Appointed as New Secretary General of the Constitutional Court

Son In-hyuk (58, Judicial Research and Training Institute 28th class), a professor at Yonsei University Law School, has been nominated as the new Secretary General of the Constitutional Court, a role responsible for overseeing the court's administrative affairs, including personnel and budget management.

According to the Constitutional Court on the 28th, Chief Justice Kim Sang-hwan plans to appoint Professor Son as the successor to outgoing Secretary General Kim Jung-won, who is set to retire on the 19th.

After completing his training at the Judicial Research and Training Institute in 1999, Professor Son was appointed as a junior constitutional researcher at the Constitutional Court. He has served as a constitutional researcher, chief of staff to the Chief Justice, and head of the institutional research team at the Constitutional Research Institute.

He later left the court and has been teaching at Yonsei University Law School since 2016.

The Secretary General is a ministerial-level official who oversees the administrative affairs of the Constitutional Court. This marks the second time that an individual with a background as a constitutional researcher has been appointed to this position, following the current Secretary General, Kim Jung-won. Yonhap News
