The meeting was convened amid fierce global competition for AI talent, highlighting the growing importance of establishing a comprehensive talent development system that spans from undergraduate studies to master's and doctoral degrees, and extends to emerging researchers.
Minister Bae emphasized, "Top-tier AI talent is not developed in a short period but is cultivated through rigorous challenges from student learning to a researcher's journey, across all stages."
He added, "The Ministry of Science and ICT will continue to communicate closely with research and education sites and develop continuous support measures for AI talent, enabling capable students to naturally progress to the next level. We will actively support our AI talent to become the leading figures on the global AI stage."
The meeting was attended by approximately 10 individuals, including university presidents and vice presidents, the chairman of the AI Graduate Schools Council, and emerging researchers in the AI field, who discussed policy challenges and support needs.
