U.S. President Donald Trump said he was "very surprised" that the United States was not mentioned in Chinese President Xi Jinping's speech at the Victory Day parade on Sept. 3 (local time).

During a press briefing and Q&A session at the White House while meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda, Trump said, "I watched the speech last night. President Xi is also my friend. But the United States should have been mentioned in that speech, because we have helped China very, very much."

Trump described the parade as a "beautiful event" and "very, very impressive."

He added, "I know why they did it. They wanted me to see it, and I was watching."

Amid expectations that North Korea, China, and Russia's cooperation will be strengthened as President Xi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un gathered for the Victory Day event, Trump said, "I have a very good relationship with all of them. You will see how good it is in the next week or two."

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social the previous day, Trump stated that Xi should respond about the "tremendous amount of help and 'blood' that the United States has provided to China" with the aim of helping China secure its freedom against foreign invaders.
