Previously, the Ministry of Economy and Finance had proposed tax reform measures to strengthen the threshold for major shareholders subject to stock capital gains tax from 5 billion won to 1 billion won.

However, following public backlash and the KOSPI being range-bound, the ruling party communicated its stance to the government to maintain the current threshold (5 billion won). Some in political circles suggest that the government has decided to maintain the current 5 billion won threshold, accepting the ruling party's opinion.
