Authorities stated that the ammunition found on the suspect arrested in connection with the assassination attempt on Charlie Kirk was inscribed with anti-fascist and anti-Nazi slogans, as well as online meme and video game references.
During a press conference held in Utah on Friday the 12th, authorities identified the detained suspect as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, a resident of western Utah.
Kirk, a popular conservative influencer and one of President Donald Trump's closest associates, was shot and killed on Wednesday the 10th during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox stated that a family member of Robinson's said Robinson had "become more political" in recent years, and that earlier this year, Robinson had mentioned Kirk's upcoming visit to the University of Utah, believing Kirk "is full of hate... and spreading hate."
However, the governor added that Kirk was known to believe in the importance of debate and was remembered for his belief in unconditional forgiveness.
Investigators revealed that the weapon used by Robinson was an older Mauser .30-06 caliber bolt-action rifle with a scope. After the shooting, he wrapped the weapon in a dark towel and discarded it in a wooded area, where authorities later found the rifle during their search.
The inscriptions on the ammunition suggest the suspect was deeply involved in anti-fascist politics and online meme culture, though his motives remain unclear. Just the News noted that President Trump and Kirk have been compared to Nazis by left-wing figures.
Specifically, the casing of the bullet used in the assassination attempt reportedly bore the inscription, "Notices bulges, OwO what's this?". While this phrase was initially rumored to refer to transgender ideology, it is now considered more likely to be a meme. It refers to furry culture and online role-playing culture, often used in an ironic and derogatory manner.
The Know Your Meme website explains, "This meme is used to mock furry roleplaying, and includes language and typing quirks stereotypically associated with roleplayers and furries."
According to the governor, some of the unused casings were inscribed with the phrase "Hey fascist! Catch!" along with three arrow symbols pointing up, right, and down.
The Know Your Meme website explains that this phrase refers to the Eagle 500kg bomb from the video game Helldivers 2. The site also states that other casings were inscribed with phrases such as "Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao ciao ciao" (an Italian song honoring partisans who fought against German occupying forces) and "If you read this you are gay lmao."
However, Just the News explained that the three downward-pointing arrows are reminiscent of the logo of the Iron Front, an anti-fascist paramilitary organization that opposed the Enabling Act which helped Adolf Hitler come to power.

Steve Bannon also criticized the press conference announcement that day as insufficient, asserting that it must be revealed that the suspect was at least linked to Antifa and providing more detailed background on the incident.
Governor Cox revealed that Robinson had texted a friend via Discord asking them to retrieve the gun he had discarded in the woods. Authorities were able to identify Robinson as the perpetrator because they found and recovered the rifle precisely where he had indicated.
Bannon pointed out the need to investigate who Robinson's communication partners were, their backgrounds, and their relationships.
FBI Director Kash Patel stated at the press conference that the investigation is ongoing and that they will thoroughly investigate if there are any accomplices.
Posts on X (formerly Twitter) suggested that the t-shirt Robinson typically wore was made by the Salt Lake City chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), an organization that also has ties to South Korea and advocates for "lifting sanctions on North Korea, withdrawing US troops, and resuming travel to North Korea." This raised suspicions about potential South Korean involvement.
However, as this news spread widely, Priscilla Yeverino, national spokesperson for DSA, stated that there is no member named Tyler Robinson in their organization "anywhere in the country." The X post that our publication cited has since been deleted.
Fact-checkers have reported that the news of Robinson being a DSA member is false, and have also confirmed that rumors of him being a Republican who donated $225 to Trump are also fake news.
Meanwhile, some argue that even if Robinson is not a DSA member, the fact that the organization is linked to South Korea, has expanded anti-American solidarity internationally, and has been directly or indirectly involved in various social conflicts within the United States is noteworthy.
Indeed, the DSA, which identifies itself as an anti-fascist organization, passed a resolution in 2017 stating, "We will seek to establish direct relationships with socialists, left-wing parties, and social movements around the world from whom we can learn and with whom we can share our values." This includes the anti-Israel movement.
The DSA's Korea Solidarity page on its website states, "DSA, in conjunction with numerous Korean organizations such as Korea Peace Now, the International Strategy Center, Women Cross DMZ, and No Gun Ri, calls for the lifting of the US travel ban to North Korea, the lifting of sanctions, and the official end to the Korean War."
Furthermore, it states, "Through the DSA Political Platform, we reaffirm our commitment to opposing overseas US military presence and bases, officially ending the Korean War through a peace treaty, and supporting South Korea's peace and reconciliation process, which is supported by the majority of South Koreans and is the product of the struggle of the South Korean left and mass movements."
In South Korea, on the day when Rob McCoy, Chairman of Turning Point USA Faith, who visited Saerom Church where Pastor Son Hyun-bo serves as senior pastor, revealed that Charlie Kirk had reported the situation in Korea to President Trump, a rumor circulated that Section Chief Wi Sung-rak's statement about finding the perpetrator and preventing recurrence might indicate his involvement in Kirk's assassination.
Within hours of the official announcement of Robinson's arrest as a suspect in Kirk's assassination, the "Bee the Change" t-shirt, identical to the one worn by Robinson, was listed for sale on the online shopping mall Ashbubble.
The website introduces the t-shirt, designed by the Salt Lake City chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), as "a meaningful item for anyone who believes in grassroots social change and the power of community."
Various suspicions have been raised: Was this a voluntary act by a young person, deeply immersed in anti-fascism and game culture, with a distorted understanding and prejudice towards the conservatism Kirk has advocated for? Or did left-wing groups like the DSA and Antifa play an organized role behind the scenes? Furthermore, could the alleged links to South Korea truly be revealed as fact?
Patel stated, "In 33 hours, we have made historic progress for Charlie," adding that the FBI received 11,000 tips and that "this is still under ongoing investigation."
Governor Cox announced that the initial investigation report would be released after three days.
