Value of BlackRock's Stakes in Major Domestic Listed Companies [Provided by Korea CXO Institute. Republication and database prohibited]
Amidst the world's largest asset manager BlackRock expressing its commitment to making large-scale investments in Korea to President Lee Jae-myung, it has been revealed that BlackRock is already investing approximately 38 trillion won in the domestic stock market.
According to an analysis by Korea CXO Institute, a specialist in corporate analysis, of domestic listed companies where BlackRock holds over a 5% stake, the total value of BlackRock's holdings in these stocks was 37.7692 trillion won as of the previous day's closing price.
This represents 1.1% of the total market capitalization of the domestic stock market, which is 3,332 trillion won.
BlackRock holds over 5% stakes in 10 domestic listed companies through its subsidiaries such as BlackRock Fund Advisors.
These companies include the holding companies of Korea's top 4 financial groups: Hana Financial Group (6.43%), Woori Financial Group (6.07%), KB Financial Group (6.02%), and Shinhan Financial Group (5.99%).
Samsung Group affiliates include Samsung Electronics (5.07%), Samsung SDI (5.01%), and Samsung E&A (5%).
In addition, Naver (6.05%), POSCO Holdings (5.2%), and Coway (5.07%) were also among the stocks where BlackRock holds over a 5% stake.
Regarding the value of BlackRock's stakes in these companies, Samsung Electronics held the largest portion at 25.4431 trillion won.
This is more than triple the value of Samsung Electronics shares held by Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, which is 8.2509 trillion won.
The value of BlackRock's stake also surpassed the combined value of Samsung Electronics shares held by the Samsung owner family, including Chairman Lee, Leeum Museum of Art Honorary Director Hong Ra-hee, Hotel Shilla President Lee Boo-jin, and Samsung C&T President Lee Seo-hyun, which amounted to 24.5993 trillion won.
Following Samsung Electronics, the next largest stock valuations held by BlackRock were KB Financial Group (2.8008 trillion won), Naver (2.2159 trillion won), Shinhan Financial Group (2.0315 trillion won), Hana Financial Group (1.6393 trillion won), Woori Financial Group (1.1929 trillion won), and POSCO Holdings (1.1715 trillion won).
Oh Il-sun, Director of Korea CXO Institute, stated, "With its immense financial power, BlackRock has established itself as a super eagle with significant influence in the domestic stock market. For Samsung Electronics, whose major shareholder stake is around 20%, it is crucial to maintain BlackRock as a friendly shareholder for management rights defense."
