Rain is expected across the country on Sunday.
Afterward, pleasant, clear autumn weather is expected to continue.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 26th, a high-pressure system is currently expanding from the northwest of the Korean Peninsula. Cold, dry air descending along the edge of this high-pressure system is meeting warm, humid air from the south over the Yellow Sea.
Due to the stationary front and low-pressure system formed by this interaction, intermittent rain is falling, mainly in Jeju and South Jeolla Province.
On the 27th, as the high-pressure system moves toward the East Sea, cold and dry northeasterly winds will flow in, colliding more intensely with the warm, humid air than before, which will cause a low-pressure system to develop near the Shandong Peninsula in China.
Because of this low-pressure system, sporadic rain will fall in Jeju and the southern coast of South Jeolla Province starting in the early morning, and in the rest of the Honam region from the afternoon. The central regions are expected to remain clear under the influence of the high-pressure system.
Subsequently, on the 28th, a pressure trough carrying cold air will pass north of the Korean Peninsula, supporting the development of a low-pressure system and pulling it toward the interior.
As this low-pressure system passes, rain will fall nationwide.
There will be significant rainfall, particularly in areas along the path of the low-pressure system.
Expected precipitation for Sunday, the 28th, is as follows: 10–50㎜ for Chungcheong; 10–40㎜ for the Seoul metropolitan area, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, Honam, and central/northern Gyeongbuk; 5–40㎜ for Jeju; 5–30㎜ for Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam, Daegu, southern Gyeongbuk, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo; and 5–20㎜ for the West Sea Five Islands and the east coast of Gangwon.
From the 29th, the country will come under the influence of a cold high-pressure system, ushering in true autumn weather.
However, there is a possibility of rain in the northern parts of the central region on October 1st as a low-pressure system passes north of the peninsula, and in Jeju and areas south of Chungcheong on the 3rd as a low-pressure system passes through the sea south of Jeju.
In particular, travelers should be cautious when planning their trips, as rough seas may occur when the low-pressure system passes south of Jeju on October 3rd. Yonhap News
