Major League Soccer (MLS) LAFC's "goal-getter" Son Heung-min (33) scored his 7th and 8th goals of the season, finding the net in four consecutive matches during the "Korean derby" against fellow national team player Jeong Sang-bin (St. Louis City SC).
On the 28th (Korean time), at Energizer Park in St. Louis, Missouri, Son started as a lone striker in LAFC's 3-4-3 formation against St. Louis City SC in a 2025 MLS Western Conference away match. He opened his scoring account in stoppage time of the first half, extending the team's lead to 1-0.
He then secured a brace with a right-footed shot in the 15th minute of the second half, widening the lead to 2-0.
With these goals, Son has recorded his 8th goal of the season (with 2 assists) in just 8 games since joining LAFC.
Furthermore, beginning with his goal against San Jose Earthquakes on the 14th, he has now scored in four straight games, following his hat-trick against Real Salt Lake on the 18th and another goal against the same opponent on the 22nd.
This marks Son's first four-game scoring streak in league play in 3 years and 9 months, dating back to his time at Tottenham (England), where he scored in four consecutive Premier League matches starting from the 14th round of the 2021-2022 season on December 3, 2021.
Additionally, Son becomes the second player for LAFC to achieve a four-game scoring streak this season, joining Dénis Bouanga (who has achieved it twice).
Bouanga opened the scoring in the 15th minute today, marking his fifth consecutive game with a goal. With 23 goals total, he trails only Lionel Messi (Inter Miami, 24 goals) in the league's scoring rankings.

St. Louis's Jeong Sang-bin started as a left-winger in the 4-2-3-1 formation, completing the "Korean derby" matchup against Son.
After Bouanga's opening goal gave them a 1-0 lead, LAFC saw Son extend the gap to 2-0 in first-half stoppage time, following a solo dribble from midfield and a clinical right-footed shot from the left side of the penalty area.
Son showcased his "one shot, one kill" efficiency by converting his first shot of the match into his 7th goal of the season.
Not satisfied with just one goal, Son struck his 8th of the season in the 15th minute of the second half, firing a right-footed shot from the center of the penalty area with a defender in front of him.
Having enjoyed a hat-trick on the 19th, Son followed up with his 7th and 8th goals today, marking his second multi-goal game of the season.
LAFC is currently leading 3-0 as of the 25th minute of the second half.
