The National Human Rights Commission has decided to proactively investigate whether human rights violations occurred in the Yangpyeong civil servant's death.

The Human Rights Commission approved the agenda for the proactive investigation at the 19th plenary session on the afternoon of the 20th, with 6 votes in favor and 2 against.

Mr. A, a 50-something civil servant at Yangpyeong County Office, was found dead in his home on the 10th, after being investigated by the special prosecutor's team investigating allegations concerning First Lady Kim Keon-hee.

A controversy arose as his will contained content claiming coercive investigation by the special prosecutor, but the special prosecutor's team denied this, stating, "The atmosphere was not coercive, nor was there a need for persuasion."
