U.S. President Donald Trump dismissed the possibility of China invading Taiwan on the 20th (local time), saying, "China does not want to do such a thing."

In response to a question from reporters after a meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the White House on the same day, President Trump said, "Yes," when asked if AUKUS (US, UK, Australia security alliance) in the Indo-Pacific could be a means to deter China regarding the possibility of China invading Taiwan in 2027.

He added, "But I don't see that we will need it (deterring China through AUKUS)."

President Trump said, "Above all, the United States is the most powerful military in the world, unmatched by anyone. We have the best equipment and are the best in every way. No one will dare to confront it."

He also stated, "I do not see that happening with President Xi Jinping at all. I think we can get along very well regarding the Taiwan issue."

He added, "That doesn't mean Taiwan isn't 'the apple of his eye.' It probably is. But I don't think anything will happen."

Earlier, in an interview with Fox News in August, President Trump claimed that President Xi had said that China would not invade Taiwan during his term.

China has been rapidly augmenting its military power and conducting increasingly sophisticated military drills around Taiwan. U.S. intelligence agencies understand that President Xi has instructed the military to be prepared to attack Taiwan by 2027.

Regarding Israel's airstrikes in Gaza after accusing Hamas of violating a ceasefire agreement, President Trump warned, "For the first time in history, we have an agreement with Hamas, and they will act properly and behave well. If not, we will go in and eradicate them."

He said he believed the party violating the ceasefire agreement would not be "Hamas leadership," but added, "If they continue to do so, we will go in and fix it, and it will be, unfortunately, very quick and quite violent."

He reiterated, "Hamas has been very violent, but they are no longer receiving support from Iran. In fact, they are not receiving any support now. They must behave well."

Regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, President Trump stated, "We are in the process of trying to secure an agreement. If we don't reach an agreement, many people will pay a heavy price."
