First Lady Kim Keon-hee leaving the Seoul Central District Court. Yonhap News.
First Lady Kim Keon-hee requested the court on the 3rd to allow her to stand trial without detention.
According to legal circles, the First Lady filed for bail (release with conditions such as a deposit) with the Criminal Settlement Division 27 of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Woo In-seong) on the same day. A hearing date has not yet been set.
It is reported that Kim's side argued that a trial without detention is necessary because her symptoms of dizziness and anxiety have worsened, requiring appropriate treatment.
The First Lady was arrested and indicted on August 29 by the Special Prosecutor's Office led by Prosecutor Min Jung-ki on charges of violating the Capital Markets Act (allegations of stock manipulation in Deutsch Motors), violating the Political Funds Act (allegations of interference in nominations), and violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes for bribery (allegations of lobbying related to Geunjinbeopsa and the Unification Church).
