Approximately 10 individuals of Korean descent were elected to state or city/county councils in local elections held on November 4th (Tuesday) in various regions including Virginia, New Jersey, and New York City, it was confirmed on the 6th.
According to the Korean American Grassroots Conference (KAGC), a grassroots organization that encourages political participation among Korean Americans, Irene Shin (Democrat, District 8) won a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates, and Ellen Park (Democrat, District 37) secured a victory in the New Jersey General Assembly.
With these wins, both Assemblywoman Shin and Assemblywoman Park have been re-elected for their third terms.
Furthermore, in New York City, Councilwoman Linda Lee (Democrat, District 23) achieved her third term as a city council member, and Councilwoman Julie Won (Democrat, District 26) was re-elected.
