U.S. President Donald Trump expressed gratitude to veterans who served the country on Nov. 11 (local time) and emphasized that the United States will win all future wars it fights.

At a commemorative event held at Arlington National Cemetery near Washington D.C. on Veterans Day, President Trump said, "The warriors of America, they never quit, they never surrender. They fight and fight and fight, and they win and win and win."

He added, "This is not just Veterans Day. We are now going to call it the World War I Victory Day."

The United States commemorates November 11, the end of World War I, as Veterans Day, but President Trump has argued that it should be called the World War I Victory Day, as the Allied nations, including the United States, were victorious.

Earlier, President Trump announced that May 8, the surrender date of Germany in World War II, would be commemorated as World War II Victory Day and also instructed the administration to refer to the Department of Defense as the Department of War.

His rationale is that using combative names will strengthen the fighting power of the U.S. military, and that the term "Department of Defense" emphasizes political correctness and weakens the military.

In his speech that day, President Trump reiterated, "Here in the Trump administration, we are restoring the pride and the winning spirit of the American military. We are not going to be politically correct anymore."

This reiterates that the U.S. military will break away from "political correctness" (PC), a concept emphasized particularly by progressives, which prohibits language or policies that contain prejudice or discrimination related to race, ethnicity, language, religion, gender, etc.

President Trump further emphasized, "From now on, we will fight wars for one reason, and one reason only: victory. We fight to win."

Separately from the day's event, President Trump issued a message for World War I Victory Day and laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery prior to the ceremony.

Meanwhile, President Trump positively assessed the situation from the previous day, where the Republican party in the Senate passed a budget bill to end the government shutdown, with some Democratic defections, leaving only a vote in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives.

He congratulated House Speaker Mike Johnson, who leads the Republican members of the House, saying, "Congratulations to you and to John (Thune, Senate Republican Whip) and all of you, a very big victory."
