Due to the impact of the U.S. federal government shutdown, which lasted a record 43 days, the October jobs report will not include the unemployment rate, a key indicator for assessing economic conditions.

In an interview with Fox News on the 13th (local time), Council of Economic Advisers (NEC) Chair Kevin Hassett stated, "We will receive a half jobs report because we were unable to conduct the household survey in October. We will get the jobs numbers, but the unemployment rate will not be included, and this will only be for the month of October."

The jobs report is an economic indicator that Wall Street considers highly important as it reveals trends in the real economy and significantly influences economic policy decisions, such as the Federal Reserve's (Fed) benchmark interest rate.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) had originally planned to release the October jobs report on the 7th, but it could not be published due to the prolonged government shutdown.

The jobs report consists of the number of jobs determined from surveys of businesses and the unemployment rate determined through household surveys. However, due to furloughed government employees responsible for the household survey being unpaid during the shutdown, unemployment rate data could not be collected in October.

While job numbers can be obtained later as businesses report their records to the government, collecting data for the household survey, which requires calling workers to ask about their employment status during a specific week in October, is more difficult at this point, Bloomberg News explained.

Hassett mentioned that the September jobs report, originally scheduled for release on October 3rd, might be available next week.

The data collection for the September report was already completed before the shutdown began on October 1st, so a complete report is expected.

Meanwhile, Hassett informed reporters at the White House on the same day that there is sufficient tariff revenue to implement President Trump's plan to provide a "tariff dividend" of $2,000 per American, but legislative action is required.

When asked if the administration was actively discussing the tariff dividend with Congress, he replied, "We are actively studying this issue and working on the numbers to ensure we have all the options available for the president's decision."
