A current police intelligence officer is under investigation for allegedly leaking foreign affairs-related information and documents to the Chinese Consulate in Korea.

The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency's Security Investigation Division announced on the 16th that it had conducted a search and seizure of the mobile phone and other items belonging to Officer A, who is part of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency's Wide Area Intelligence Team, early this month.

Officer A is accused of leaking information obtained during his official duties to the Chinese Consulate in Korea.

Immediately after the search and seizure, the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency transferred Officer A to a non-intelligence department at a local police station.

A representative from the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency stated, "We are analyzing the seized mobile phone through digital forensics," adding, "We cannot disclose specific details of the investigation."
