  • The Israel-Hamas war policy is cited as the biggest cause.

President Donald Trump is enjoying the highest foreign policy job approval rating among 21st-century presidents.

During his second term, President Trump's current foreign policy approval rating stands at 43%, surpassing both of his 21st-century predecessors, former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

Bush had a foreign policy approval rating of 36% at this point in his second term, while Obama's approval rating was only 37%.

CNN reported that public perception of President Trump's foreign policy performance has significantly improved, rising from 35% in his first term to the current 43%.

CNN cited the Israel-Hamas war as the biggest reason for Trump's high approval rating.

While Biden's net approval rating for his policy on this war is -37 points, Trump received +3 points. This means that 3 percentage points more of the public approves of Trump's policy on the Israel-Hamas war than disapproves, showing a significant 40 percentage point difference compared to Biden.

Author John Nolte stated on Breitbart News, "I am confident that Trump's legacy will be as significant as that of Franklin Roosevelt or Ronald Reagan," adding, "The problem is the upcoming midterm elections."

Nolte pointed out, "The outcome of the midterm elections depends solely on the economy, and people are currently not satisfied with the economic situation." He criticized, "Looking purely at election results, peace in the Middle East means nothing compared to the price of a gallon of gasoline, the price of a dozen eggs, or housing affordability."

The outcome of the 2026 midterm elections will determine the final two years of Trump's second administration. Should the Democratic Party win and gain a majority in the House of Representatives, Trump could waste two years fending off impeachment resolutions.

Nolte added, "There is no doubt that foreign policy is important, but nothing has as much psychological impact as seeing the gas prices at the pump while driving down the road."

While President Trump's economic policies could receive positive evaluations in various aspects, such as tariff revenue, attracting foreign investment to the US, and stabilizing gas prices, Americans currently largely agree that the US economy is not doing well.

Large corporations are announcing or implementing mass layoffs, and the prolonged federal government shutdown, reductions in federal spending, and rising inflation due to tariffs are known to have a negative impact on the real economy.
