Park Jae-eok (29th class, Judicial Research and Training Institute), Prosecutor General of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, stated on the 21st, "As both the season and the prosecution have entered a cold winter, I feel truly regretful that we cannot go on together any longer while enduring this harsh cold spell."
At his farewell ceremony, held privately at the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office at 10 a.m. on this day, Park said, "In winter, many things appear to have lost their vitality, but there are countless lives that silently endure, waiting for spring while withstanding the heavy silence and cold."
He added, "I trust that our prosecution family will also resolutely await spring, not losing their pride in doing their best for the nation and its people, and will continue to do their best in their respective positions."
"Although I am leaving, I believe I can depart with a lighter heart because I have seen hope in the prosecution family members I have worked with so far," he said. "I loved the prosecution and its family as much as I loved my own family. I ask for forgiveness if I have hurt anyone."
The farewell ceremony was held four days after he submitted his resignation on the 17th.
Park, who took office as Prosecutor General of Suwon District Prosecutors' Office on July 29th, recently joined the collective statement of 18 prosecutors who demanded a detailed explanation from the Acting Prosecutor General regarding the prosecution's decision to withdraw its appeal in the Daejang-dong development corruption case.
Subsequently, it was reported that the Ministry of Justice was considering a plan to reassign all prosecutors who opposed the withdrawal of the appeal to lower-ranking positions. One day after this news, on the 17th, Park submitted his resignation.
