Senator Tim Kaine (D-Va.) announced Sunday that he would reintroduce a war powers resolution requiring congressional approval for any military action against Venezuela.
Kaine stated on CBS News' "Face the Nation" that "if military action occurs, I will immediately move with my colleagues, Senator Schumer, Senator Paul, and Representative Schiff." The colleagues mentioned are Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.), and Representative Adam Schiff (D-Calif.).
Kaine explained that the previous resolution "did not pass, but that was before all the military assets were gathered around Venezuela and before President Trump said he needed to close the airspace."
He predicted that "the numbers will be different" this time in terms of the level of support among senators.
