The U.S. Department of Justice plans to compel more than half of the states to clean up their voter rolls, believing that lapses allowing deceased individuals and non-citizens to vote in Democrat-run states are intentional, a senior official told Just the News on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump shared the Just the News report on Truth Social, emphasizing that restoring integrity to elections must start with Voter ID.

Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, Harmeet J. Dhillon, stated on the Just the News TV program on Wednesday, "The poor administration of elections in Democrat states is not by accident. It is by design. It is an intended function, not a defect."

She added, "The goal is to get as many people on the rolls as possible and to make it easy for non-participating voters to have their ballots filled out and cast by other people when they themselves are not willing to vote."

"What we can do at the federal level is ensure that federal election laws are complied with, and that includes the obligation for each of the states to maintain clean voter rolls," she continued. "That is a fundamental bedrock principle."

Dhillon's remarks come one day after the Justice Department filed lawsuits against six Democrat-led states: Maryland, Delaware, Rhode Island, New Mexico, Washington, and Vermont.

The lawsuits aim to compel these states to turn over their voter rolls to the Justice Department for inspection for anomalies, outdated names, or non-compliant names.

The Justice Department also reached an agreement last week in North Carolina to force the review and correction of more than 100,000 voters added to the rolls without compliance with state laws.

Dhillon revealed that the Justice Department currently has processes in place, through lawsuits, settlements, or voluntary efforts, that could compel clean-up of voter rolls in at least 26 states.

"We are litigating with 14 states right now," she told Just the News. "The six states that were added yesterday are Maryland, Delaware, Rhode Island, New Mexico, Washington, and Vermont. That's in addition to the eight states that we were already litigating with."

"We are also nearing settlements with another 12 states through voluntary cooperation. I won't name the specific states, but we will certainly be public when we get to a settlement," she said. "We are currently receiving voluntary cooperation from four states and have secured a settlement order with North Carolina."

Dhillon said the Justice Department is reviewing the records of all states and has identified particularly "lax" ones, like California. She listed the types of problems found in both Republican and Democrat-leaning states.

"There are people on the voter rolls in every state who clearly should not be there," she stated. "They are deceased. They have moved. They are registered multiple times in the same place. And because of these unstable duplicate or unnecessary registrations, we have seen reports of people's votes being recorded before they even arrive at the polling place."

"And then, among the people who are clearly on the voter rolls are non-citizen immigrants," she added. "That could include both legal immigrants and illegal immigrants who may be registered on voter rolls."

President Donald Trump shared the Just the News report on Truth Social, stating, "Great! Our elections are corrupt and rigged. Voters know it. We must restore integrity to our votes. Let's start with Voter ID!"

President Trump had previously signed an executive order on election integrity on March 25th (Tuesday) to prevent election fraud.

He has consistently pledged and urged measures to stop the Democrat's vote-rigging machine, including proof of citizenship, voter ID, one-day voting, and paper ballots.

President Trump believes that if these election integrity principles are upheld, they will lead to a significant victory for the Republican party.

Conversely, Democrats argue that such measures make it difficult to exercise the right to vote and are willing to engage in legal battles, deepening the conflict between the federal government and local governments.
