A civic group has filed a complaint against Ahn Gwi-ryeong, Deputy Spokesperson for the Presidential Office, for attempting to seize firearms during the 12.3 martial law declaration.

The Committee for the People's Livelihood (Chairman Kim Soon-hwan) announced on the 15th that it had filed a complaint against Ahn Gwi-ryeong, Deputy Spokesperson for the Presidential Office, her bodyguard, and Kim Hyun-ji, Head of the First Annex Office of the Presidential Office, for 'abuse of power,' 'violation of the Military Supplies Crime Act (robbery) and complicity/instigation,' 'obstruction of justice by special official duty,' and 'defamation.'

This complaint stems from the testimony of former Colonel Kim Hyun-tae of the 707th Special Mission Group, who appeared as a witness in the trial of Kim Yong-hyun, former Minister of National Defense, and others for alleged involvement in sedition on the 9th. He testified that he saw "Deputy Spokesperson Ahn arrive with burly bodyguards, and I saw her applying makeup just before the filming was prepared."

The complaint states, "Deputy Spokesperson Ahn suddenly appeared during the 12.3 emergency martial law and attempted to seize firearms using 'critical' techniques only an expert would know. It was later learned that she brought burly bodyguards at the time, and many unit members complained of injustice due to the staged attempt to seize firearms, not just for filming purposes. At the time, it was evident that the soldiers had no intention of suppressing the citizens, and the firearms were not loaded."

In particular, it stated that "considering she was wearing a leather jacket and full makeup to appear like a female warrior, there is a reasonable suspicion that Deputy Spokesperson Ahn was instructed by someone and had planned ahead for the deployment of military forces to the National Assembly during the emergency martial law."

The civic group's complaint states that "Deputy Spokesperson Ahn suddenly appeared during the 12.3 emergency martial law and attempted to seize firearms using 'critical' techniques only an expert would know. Furthermore, it stated, "Anyone who has served in the military knows that one should never stand in front of a firearm, even an unloaded one. Such a forbidden act constitutes abuse of power, violation of the Military Supplies Crime Act (robbery), obstruction of justice by special official duty, and defamation of 707th unit members."

It also stated, "There is a reasonable suspicion that Kim Hyun-ji, Head of the First Annex Office of the Presidential Secretariat, instigated Deputy Spokesperson Ahn to carry out the seizure of firearms from the 707th Special Mission Unit members who entered the National Assembly during the 12.3 martial law." It added, "Considering that Deputy Spokesperson Ahn was the spokesperson for the Democratic Party during the 12.3 martial law and became Deputy Spokesperson for the Presidential Office with the birth of the Lee Jae-myung administration in June, Ms. Kim's inappropriate actions constitute abuse of power and instigation of violation of the Military Supplies Crime Act (robbery)."
