When asked by reporters about her potential candidacy in the local elections next June, following a lecture hosted by a local community organization at the Daegu Central Convention Center, former Chairperson Lee responded as such.
The former chairperson emphasized, "It's not that I'm contemplating [running for Daegu mayor]; the issues that I have the greatest interest in and must handle are the constitutional appeal and the provisional injunction."
She has filed a constitutional appeal, asserting that the establishment act for the Korea Communications and Media Commission (KCOM), which led to the abolition of the Korea Communications Commission, infringes upon her constitutional rights and is therefore unconstitutional, and has also applied for a preliminary injunction to suspend its effect.
Regarding the prosecution's request to the police for supplementary investigation into her alleged violations of election laws, former Chairperson Lee stated, "There is absolutely no evidence of guilt," and described the investigation as unwarranted.
During her lecture today, themed around liberal democracy, she criticized the impeachment proceedings against her and the establishment act for the Korea Communications and Media Commission.
Having previously run for Daegu mayor in the 2022 election, former Chairperson Lee is being mentioned as a potential candidate for the Daegu mayoral race in the upcoming local elections next year.
