Trump: "New US Navy Frigate Project to Cooperate with Hanwha"... Giving Strength to 'MASGA'
President Trump announcing the 'Golden Fleet'. AFP Yonhap NewsOn the 22nd (local time), U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the new frigates to be introduced by the U.S. Navy will be built in cooperation with a Korean company (Hanwha).
Attention is now focused on whether the 'MASGA' (Make American Shipbuilding Great Again) project, a South Korean investment project in the U.S. shipbuilding industry agreed upon by South Korea and the U.S. through two summit meetings this year, will gain momentum starting next year.
President Trump stated at a press conference held at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on this day, "The Navy announced a new class of frigate (construction plan) last week," adding, "They will be working with a Korean company."
Introducing the company as "a good company called Hanwha," President Trump said, "(Hanwha) has agreed to invest $5 billion (approximately 7.4 trillion won) in the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard."
President Trump remarked, "It was a great shipyard. It was closed down a long time ago, but it's reopening and working with the U.S. Navy and private companies."
The Philadelphia shipyard mentioned by President Trump appears to refer to the PhilI shipyard acquired by Hanwha.
President Trump announced the creation of a 'Golden Fleet' composed of new large warships, stating that the frigates will be included in this fleet.
