On December 25th, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States had launched a deadly strike against "ISIS terrorist scum" in Nigeria.
President Trump stated on Truth Social that day, "Tonight, at my direction as Commander-in-Chief, the United States has carried out a powerful and deadly strike against a group of ISIS terrorists in northwestern Nigeria. They have been brutally murdering innocent Christians to a degree not seen for years, even centuries!"
President Trump added, "I have warned these terrorists before that they would pay a great price if they did not stop the massacre of Christians, and tonight, they have paid that price. The Department of Defense has carried out numerous perfect attacks, just as only America can do. Under my leadership, our country will never tolerate the flourishing of radical Islamic terrorism."
He further commented, "May God bless our military and Merry Christmas to all. My condolences go out to the terrorists who will have more victims if the Christian massacre continues."

This airstrike comes eight weeks after President Trump designated Nigeria as a "Country of Particular Concern" (CPC) on October 31st.
Human rights monitoring groups estimate that over 7,000 Christians have been murdered, and thousands have been kidnapped or displaced as of the end of October this year alone.
This information was widely publicized at the 'Summit to End Christian Persecution' hosted by CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) at the Carnegie Center on October 30th.
Chanel Rion, a reporter for One America News (OANN), analyzed that China is behind President Trump's focus on Christian persecution, stating that China is funding the Islamic mercenaries.

Earlier this week, reports emerged that the U.S. conducted reconnaissance flights over Nigeria.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses stated on X (formerly Twitter), "The President has made it clear that the murder of innocent Christians in Nigeria (and elsewhere) must stop. ISIS learned tonight, on Christmas Day, that we are always prepared. More details will be released later," and expressed gratitude for the support and cooperation of the Nigerian government.
The Department of Defense released a video showing the U.S. airstrike in Nigeria.
