The Jo Guk Innovation Party urged Rep. Kim Byung-ki, floor leader of the Democratic Party, who is embroiled in various allegations of misconduct, to "show the responsibility befitting a leadership position" and pressed him for a decision on his future.
Park Byung-eon, spokesperson for the Innovation Party, stated in a commentary today, "Various allegations have recently been raised against Floor Leader Kim Byung-ki," adding, "It is time to show thoughtful actions that match the seriousness of the matter." He emphasized, "As a member of the ruling party's leadership with a significant mandate, we expect him to demonstrate responsibility and wisdom."
The Progressive Party, also part of the pro-government bloc, also called for Floor Leader Kim's resignation.
Lee Mi-seon, spokesperson for the Progressive Party, stated in a written briefing today, "The allegation that Floor Leader Kim's spouse privately used the official entertainment expenses of the vice-chairman of the Dongjak District Council is a serious criminal suspicion." She criticized, "This is not a matter to be taken lightly. What's the difference with Kim Keon-hee?"
She continued, "It is even more difficult to understand the attitude of attacking the informant and former aides while obscuring the essence of the issue, despite the mounting evidence and circumstances." She demanded, "Floor Leader Kim must resign immediately, apologize to the public, and sincerely cooperate with the investigation."
