Citizen journalists and activists are shining a spotlight on potential Somali fraud involving taxpayer-funded money, not just in Minnesota but in several states across the country.

Videos taken in Ohio, Maine, Pennsylvania, and Washington suggest that Somali communities in various parts of the nation are replicating the taxpayer fraud claims that citizen journalist Nick Shirley exposed at a Minnesota daycare center.

For instance, in Washington state, X user Carleen Johnson noted discovering a home registered as a daycare center in Federal Way, Washington, but found no children present when she visited to inquire:

Furthermore, a social media user with the TikTok handle @theoldermillennial exposed that Somalis have registered a staggering 539 daycare centers in Washington state. He pointed out that if these daycare centers receive even minimal state funding, it equates to $755 million in state taxes going down the drain annually:

State Representative Josh Williams (R), from Sylvania Township, has called for an investigation into facilities, particularly in the Columbus area, citing multiple instances of fraud, including billing the state for children who are not actually attending daycare programs funded by public money.

"What's happening in Minnesota is almost certainly happening in Columbus," Williams stated. "Ohio must use every authority at its disposal to stop this."
