U.S. President Donald Trump announced that construction of the "Washington Arc de Triomphe" will begin within the next two months.
This arc, which will be similar in form to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France, is one of the Trump administration's signature projects commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States this year.
In an interview with the U.S. political news outlet Politico on January 31st (local time), President Trump said, "It hasn't started yet. It will start at some point in the next two months," adding, "It's going to be fantastic. Everybody loves it."
President Trump has publicly showcased a model of the arc in recent months, foreshadowing the construction plans.
Potential sites for the arc are being considered near prominent Washington D.C. tourist attractions such as the Lincoln Memorial or Arlington National Cemetery.
President Trump envisions the Washington Arc de Triomphe as a patriotic landmark honoring American history and the sacrifices of soldiers.
However, concerns have been raised regarding construction costs, aesthetic completion, and whether the administration has the authority to unilaterally push forward with such a large-scale construction in the capital.
Regarding the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event he plans to host at the White House on June 14th, President Trump predicted, "There could be many, many fights, like 10."

President Trump remarked, "He's going to pick only the top fighters, and they're going to be championship fights. It's going to be probably the best ever. It's going to be really, really special."
June 14th is Flag Day in the United States and also President Trump's birthday.
President Trump announced the establishment of "Freedom 250," a non-partisan, national organization preparing for the 250th anniversary of the nation's founding, through a YouTube video on January 18th, at which time he also revealed plans for the Washington Arc de Triomphe and the White House UFC event.
