U.S. President Donald Trump announced on the 2nd (local time) that the United States would intervene if the anti-government protests spreading in Iran are suppressed forcefully.

President Trump warned on his social media platform, Truth Social, around 3 AM that day, "If Iran, as it has always done, opens fire and violently kills peaceful protesters, the United States will come to their rescue."

He added, "We are completely ready and prepared to deploy."

Protests are currently spreading fiercely in Iran, protesting economic difficulties such as the sharp decline in currency value and high inflation.

As the protests have spread nationwide, at least seven people, including protesters and militia members, are reported to have died, and analyses suggest the Iranian government has begun a full-scale forceful crackdown.
