The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Saturday that it conducted large-scale airstrikes against ISIS targets in Syria as part of ongoing military operations focused on degrading the Islamic State's capabilities and deterring future attacks against U.S. and allied forces.

According to CENTCOM, the airstrikes targeted at least 35 locations across Syria, utilizing over 90 precision-guided munitions and employing more than 20 aircraft, including F-15E, A-10, AC-130J, and MQ-9 drones. F-16 fighter jets from the Royal Jordanian Air Force also participated in the operation.

This operation is part of "Operation Hawk Eye," which was initiated in response to an ambush near Palmyra in central Syria on December 13th, resulting in the deaths of two U.S. soldiers and one American civilian interpreter.

CENTCOM emphasized that U.S. and coalition forces will continue their efforts to eradicate extremists and protect their personnel in the region.

In a statement, CENTCOM declared, "Our message remains unwavering: we will find and kill those who harm our soldiers, anywhere in the world."

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses wrote, "We will never forget, and we will never back down."
