The social media account 'The SCIF,' which primarily covers political issues, has released a video on X showing the CEO of Smartmatic admitting, "Machines can be used for election manipulation."
The video is based on statements made by Smartmatic CEO Antonio Mugica at a press conference in London around 2018.
Smartmatic is known to have officially severed ties with Venezuela through this video, condemning the Maduro regime's electoral fraud.
Mugica Admits, "Machines Can Be Used for Election Manipulation"
Introducing the video on X, The SCIF stated, "Smartmatic's CEO has directly exposed that machines can be used for election manipulation," adding, "It is possible to artificially inflate or deflate turnout data through software manipulation to distort results, thereby manipulating outcomes without immediate detection."
It also revealed, "In addition to turnout manipulation, the CEO explained various malicious uses, from vote manipulation using algorithmic errors to backdoor access that allows unauthorized remote changes."
The SCIF commented, "The video shows the CEO of an election equipment company used in US elections stating that election manipulation can occur without being discovered," and "This fact alone tells us everything."
Mugica: "There will be a difference of at least one million votes."
Meanwhile, in the 3-minute video, CEO Mugica stated, "Smartmatic provided election technology and support services in Venezuela in 2004," and acknowledged, "We know without a doubt that the results of the recent Constituent Assembly election were manipulated."
He further stated, "We estimate there to be a difference of at least one million votes between the official turnout announced by the authorities and the actual turnout."
However, Mugica highlighted Smartmatic's strengths by saying, "Thanks to Venezuela's automated election system, we were able to detect this inflation of turnout."
He concluded by placing blame on Venezuela's poor election monitoring, stating, "This would not have happened if observers from all political parties had been present at every stage of the election."

Smartmatic is a multinational company that operates electronic voting systems, founded in 2000 by Antonio Mugica, Alfredo José Ansola, and Roger Piñatega.
Selected as a new voting machine provider ahead of Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez's re-election in 2004, Smartmatic was embroiled in controversy in 2016 when it was revealed to have been involved in election fraud in the Philippines.
Additionally, the United States has indicted three current and former Smartmatic executives for violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, including bribery, alleging evidence of Smartmatic's involvement in the 2020 US presidential election.
