The House Oversight Committee on the 21st (local time) passed a resolution to refer former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with committee subpoenas.
The House voted separately on the resolutions concerning Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton. The vote for Bill Clinton passed 34 to 8, and the vote for Hillary Clinton passed 28 to 15.
This means both resolutions will proceed to a full vote on the House floor. If the House approves the resolutions, Congress intends to refer the matter to the Department of Justice for criminal prosecution of the two individuals.
During the Biden administration, the House took similar action against Trump associates Peter Navarro and Steve Bannon. Both were sentenced to prison for defying subpoenas from the House Select Committee on the January 6th Attack.
The Oversight Committee subpoenaed the Clintons to testify about their connections to the late Jeffrey Epstein due to deep dissatisfaction with how the Department of Justice has handled the case. However, neither individual appeared before the committee.
