U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday (local time) urged Iran to expedite a nuclear deal, threatening that the U.S. fleet heading to Iran is larger than the one deployed for military operations in Venezuela.
Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, "A tremendous fleet is heading to Iran. This fleet is moving with great power, passion, and purpose very quickly. The fleet, led by the great USS Abraham Lincoln, is bigger than what we sent to Venezuela."
He added, "Like Venezuela, the fleet is ready and willing to perform its mission swiftly and violently if necessary."
He highlighted that the large carrier strike group dispatched to waters near Iran is more formidable than the force used to oust Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro earlier this month, thereby threatening swift military action in Iran as well.
Trump then addressed Iran, stating, "I hope you will quickly come to the negotiating table and negotiate a fair and equitable 'ban on nuclear weapons' deal, which is good for all parties."
He particularly emphasized, "Time is running out. It (time) is really important," urging immediate engagement in negotiations without delay.
Trump reiterated his call to Iran, saying, "As I have told Iran before, make a deal."
He then warned, "They did not (make a deal last year), and there was an operation called 'Midnight Hammer' that devastated Iran on a large scale. The next attack will be far more serious," and added, "Do not let that happen again."
