Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Wednesday, during his visit to Washington, that Israel had joined President Donald Trump's "Board of Peace" after meeting with President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Videos and X (formerly Twitter) posts released after his meeting with Secretary Rubio on Wednesday morning showed Prime Minister Netanyahu signing Israel's accession to the Peace Board at Blair House, the presidential guest house.
Prime Minister Netanyahu posted on X, "Prior to my meeting with President Trump at the White House, I signed the ratification of Israel's membership in the 'Board of Peace'," adding, "We will continue to strengthen the unbreakable alliance between Israel and the United States."
The Board of Peace is an international organization with President Trump serving as its inaugural chairman for an unlimited term, aiming to promote the maintenance of world peace. President Trump has invited over 60 countries to join as member states, but as of now, only 22 countries, including Israel, have officially become member states, with an additional six countries expressing their intention to participate.
▲ Member Countries of the Board of Peace: Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bulgaria, El Salvador, Hungary, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Mongolia, Morocco, Pakistan, Paraguay, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United States, Uzbekistan, Israel
▲ Countries Expressing Intent to Join: Albania, Belarus, Cambodia, Egypt, Kuwait, Vietnam
Twenty-four countries have yet to express their intentions, and 13 countries have refused the invitation. Canada's invitation was rescinded.
▲ Countries Yet to Express Intent to Participate: Australia, Austria, Brazil, China, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Finland, Greece, India, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Oman, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Thailand, Ukraine, Vatican City

As chairman, President Trump has the authority to appoint his successor, as well as the exclusive right to invite member states and the exclusive power to establish, reorganize, and dissolve sub-organizations of the board.
Several countries, including France and the European Union, have refused to participate, expressing concerns that the Board of Peace might become an organization that replaces the UN Security Council while granting veto power solely to the United States.
Although the Board of Peace was initially announced as part of a two-phase 20-point plan to end the war between Israel and the Hamas terrorist organization in Gaza, President Trump is reportedly considering expanding the organization's influence to other regions.
The Board of Peace has been presented as a mechanism to assist in the transition from active combat to post-war phases by supporting the establishment of security frameworks, reconstruction, and long-term governance in conflict zones.
Currently, the Board of Peace comprises an Executive Committee and a Gaza Executive Committee.
Members appointed to the Executive Committee on January 17th include: ▲ Nikolay Mladenov, Senior Representative for Gaza appointed by the United States ▲ Marco Rubio, U.S. Secretary of State ▲ Steve Witkoff, U.S. Special Envoy for Middle East Peace ▲ Jared Kushner, Donald Trump's son-in-law and architect of the Abraham Accords ▲ Tony Blair, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom ▲ Marc Rowan, CEO of Apollo Global Management ▲ Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank ▲ Robert Gabriel Jr., U.S. political advisor.
The Gaza Executive Committee directs the 'National Committee for the Governance of Gaza (NCAG)', composed of 15 experts, to temporarily govern Gaza. Its appointed members include: ▲ Special Envoy Witkoff, Jared Kushner, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Qatari Minister of State for Defence Affairs Ali Al Attiyah, Director General of Egyptian General Intelligence Hassan Rasheed, Marc Rowan, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy, Nikolay Mladenov, Israeli businessman Yakir Gabay, and Sigrid Kaag, UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process.
The committee is scheduled to hold its first meeting in Washington on February 19th to discuss the reconstruction of Gaza.
