Reports have emerged that the 21-year-old man who was shot and killed after trespassing onto President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate was fixated on the Jeffrey Epstein case.

The suspect, identified as Austin Tucker Martin of Cameron, North Carolina, was reportedly stopped by Secret Service agents and Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies near the northern gate of the Mar-a-Lago compound early Sunday morning (22nd).

Authorities stated that he was in possession of what appeared to be a shotgun and a gas can.

Officers ordered Martin to drop the items. He complied by dropping the gun, but then picked up the shotgun in what officers described as a "shooting stance," leading to him being shot and killed.

Investigators are reporting that Martin drove from North Carolina to Florida on Saturday, based on social media posts from his family and information released by his home county's Sheriff's Office.

According to TMZ, Martin, who aspired to be an artist, texted a coworker on February 15th, "Don't know if you've looked into the Epstein case, but evil is real and apparent."

He continued, "The least you can do is use whatever little influence you have, and tell others what you've heard about the Epstein files and governmental actions. Raise awareness."

Following the Justice Department's recent release of Epstein-related documents, Martin reportedly believed the government was attempting a cover-up and that those involved were "getting away with it."

Martin graduated from Union Pines High School in Cameron in 2023, according to a post his mother made on social media. State voter records show he is a registered voter with no party affiliation.

His cousin, Brayden Fields, told the Associated Press that Martin came from a "very Trump-supporting family."

Fields also said Martin worked at a local golf course and donated a portion of his pay to charity.

According to The New York Times, Martin registered a business in June called "Fresh Sky Illustrations," which describes itself on its website as "an art business focused on bringing the hopeful feelings of a golf course to life by painting golf course landscapes and selling them framed as unique golf course memorabilia in golf course gift shops."

Fields described his cousin to WTVD (an ABC affiliate) as a "very quiet person" who had little experience with firearms.
