Her husband, Charlie Kirk, was assassinated during an outdoor event at Utah Valley University in September. The suspect in his murder, Tyler Robinson, has been charged with homicide and could face the death penalty.

Following her husband's death, Erika Kirk assumed leadership of Turning Point USA, a large conservative youth organization in the United States. Her tenure has not been without its challenges, particularly amid a heated public debate concerning the organization's stance on U.S.-Israel relations.

One of the most prominent figures who regularly appears at TPUSA events is Tucker Carlson. He has faced significant backlash from the pro-Israel right due to his skeptical stance on war with Iran and his interviews with explicit anti-Zionist figures like Nick Fuentes.

Kirk has stated that the organization will not distance itself from Carlson, despite calls from prominent Jewish conservatives, such as Laura Loomer, to do so.
